HUNSLET HAWKS v FEATHERSTONE ROVERS
Hunslet were no match for Featherstone Rovers in a much delayed Northern Rail Cup Group game at the South Leeds Stadium tonight. After building an 18-0 half-time lead, Rovers ran riot in the second half to finish 68-0 victors.
Jessie Joe Parker scored the first try for Featherstone after six minutes with Aaron Dobek adding the first of ten goals. A changed Hunslet team, with many of their first choice stars rested ahead of Saturday's Challenge Cup tie with Leigh East, competed well and it wasn't until the 30th minute that a second try came the visitors way through Danny Allen. Zak Hardacre registered the first of an eventual hat-trick and with the boot of Dobek finding the mark it was 18-0 although Rovers lost Gareth Williamson to the sinbin after 36 minutes.
Featherstone started the second half as they meant to go on with Dobek scoring the first of nine second half tries within 60 seconds of the restart.
Tries followed at regular intervals through Tommy Saxton, Ross Divorty, Williamson, Hardacre (2), Larsen Marade and Jack Lee before Parker completed the rout in the last minute with his second. Dobek finished with 24 points to his name.
