Embarrassing Defeat

Really there was little else to say other than the scoreline.

74-6. 74-6. 74-6, it doesn't even get better if you say it fast! I couldn't believe how that game on Saturday panned out. Where was the fight of previous games? Where was the desire? Where was the pride in defence that the team showed not months ago, but SIX days before?

Don't get me wrong Barrow were excellent, their halfbacks exceptional, but to concede 13 tries, four of them in the final 12 minutes showed a lack of something by some players. Of course, not all were dreadful but as a collective they MUST and this week WILL, carry the can.

There was complete shock, disappointment and anguish etched on the players faces that I spoke too. Let's hope things buck up. On Saturday night, for the first time since the depths of a 70-16 Super League defeat at Brentford against the London Broncos in Super League, I was really embarrassed, almost ashamed. It stayed with me on Sunday and only now can I comment about what I witnessed.
