Firstly I must congratulate South Wales Scorpions on two fronts. Their win over Workington Town at the weekend gave them instant credibility while their first home gate of 565 at Neath's Gnoll ground was also better than the budgeted 400.
One thing I do find interesting and correct me if I'm wrong here, is the use of Crusaders players.
Former Leigh Academy captain Anthony Blackwood was in the team as were Lloyd White who was mightily impressive for Wales last autumn and perhaps more surprisingly much travelled forward Jordan James. Also in the squad were Gil Dudson, Ben Flower and Lewis Mills, all tipped as fledgling youngsters in the Crusaders ranks. Now where is the rule of four loanees/dual contract players here? It doesn't seem to count for London Skolars either. Now I understand the need to develop the game but it creates resentment when different rules are applied.
Has it always gone on? Perhaps? Certainly the Super League era has seen the likes of Crusaders, Catalans, before them Paris and Harlequins/London Broncos play from different rulebooks while the championships and national leagues have seen different rules applied between Championship and Championship One clubs.
It certainly does seem to be rules for some and rules for others.
