Amateur Round-up 1

Both sides of Leigh's amateur rugby league fraternity saw their teams win on Saturday with Leigh East prevailing 19-6 against West Hull thanks to a late scoring burst. John Woods scored East's first try after 26 minutes but West Hull struck midway through the second half to level up. Toby Adamson then supported to go over before Semisi Cocka scattered the defence. Gary Middlehurst kicked one goal with two from the boot of Ryan Peters who also landed a drop goal.

Leigh Miners Rangers also got away to a successful start to the season with a 25-14 away success at Wigan St Pats. Former Leigh East scrum half Ryan Smith bagged two tries and a drop goal on his Conference debut while Martin Wilson and Mark Jones scored others with Tom Bradbury successful with four goals.
